Footnotes:
  1. In 2012 the following on campus incidents were cleared by arrest or exceptional means: six forcible sex offenses, one robbery, two aggravated assaults and two burglaries.
  2. The statistical categories for sex offenses have changed. Sexual offenses are now categorized as rape, fondling, incest and   statutory rape.  NOTE: Sodomy and sexual assault with an object are included in the rape category.
  3. In 2014 five incidents of rape were reported; however, two incidents were cleared as unfounded.  In addition, seven reports   of stalking were reported; however, two incidents were cleared as unfounded.
  4. This category was new for reporting in 2013. Statistics for this crime were not collected for 2012.
  5. Hate crimes are crimes that manifest evidence that the victim was intentionally selected because of the victim’s actual or perceived Race (RA), Religion (RE), Sexual Orientation (SO), Gender (G), Ethnicity (E), National Origin (NO) or Disability (D).  Reportable hate offense crime categories include all of the aforementioned crime offenses as well as larceny/theft, simple assault, intimidation and vandalism/malicious destruction of property.
  6. Due to clarification of the reporting guidelines, the 2013 and 2014 information listed in this category has been adjusted to meet the required reporting standards. 
  7. Note:  The Maryland General Assembly passed Senate bill 364 which reclassified the use or possession of 10 grams or less of marijuana to a civil offense (fine not exceeding $100 for first-time offenders, $250 for second-time offenders, and $500 for third or subsequent offenders) rather than a criminal offense.  The decriminalization law took effect October 1, 2014.
