Share Where I've Been Why Brighton Rocks by GlobalGrasshopper

Owning a travel blog means people will always ask you where you're favourite place is. It's not an easy question. We could mention any one of the beautiful and far flung destinations we've been lucky enough to visit. Although there's still one special place that we both love that's actually much closer to home. Gray was born and raised in the seaside city of Brighton and even though we're based in London now, it's a place we still go when we're looking for a quick escape from our now very busy lives. For my husband it could be a nostalgia thing, but the city appeals to us both. Maybe it's the city's progressive ideals - a bohemian oasis on an otherwise conservative South England coast. Of course it could just down to the plentiful supply of fresh sea air!

West Brighton Pier
Travel photography is a big part of what we do, so the place we head to at dusk is the favourite muse of many a local photographer, the West Pier. The historic site has survived two fires and many other attempts to knock it down. The charred black structure strikes a hauntingly beautiful image and on clear autumns evening, when the swarm of starlings circle the pier ready to roost, there's not many other places we'd rather be - at least not this close to home.
